Appearance:
Polished coppery colored ale with reddish hues. Creamy almond colored foam with mixed sized bubbles. Carbonation fine for style.
Smell:
Toast, roast and caramel elements lead the aromatic charge, followed by a surge of green leafy hop notes.
Taste:
High end of medium in body. Malts, five in all, peppered steadily with citrus Cascade hop bitterness. Delightful hop attack maintained through middle. Lingering bitter finish with strong supporting malt completes the picture.
Notes:
Five different malts used but sometimes one malt with a black burnt toast flavor supersedes the others and dominates the play on the palate and for me this just doesn't work. Otherwise a fine interpretation of the style. Sold in a Canadian original, the ?stubby? with a crown cap, not a twist cap. Brewery located in Toronto's Distillery Historic District, a 170-year old complex, the largest and best preserved collection of Victorian industrial architecture in North America.
